The United States Environmental Protection Agency which enforces regulations to protect human health and environment had a budget of $8.6 billion for the financial year 2016. This is $452 million more over the previous year's budget. But this budget is set to decrease as President Donald Trump's administration has proposed a 31% cut for 2018 . The new executive order signed by President Trump will result in rollback of the Clean Power Plan and reconsider carbon emission standards for new coal plants, regulations on methane emissions from oil and gas extraction. This could have a negative impact on environmental consulting services market.

State agencies and local tribal agencies are implementing Wetland Program Plans WPPs to protect and restore wetlands. Wetlands are areas where water covers the soil most of the time and improve water quality, store water and provide habitats for fish and wildlife. The EPA provides technical assistance, financial support and organizes development activities to protect wetlands.

The Superfund program, an initiative of the Environmental Protection Agency is involved in cleaning up hazardous waste sites and responding to emergencies during natural disasters. This program also provides training on site cleanup, performs site remediation and cleanup optimization.
