Red Hot Chili Peppers to Perform at Stand Up for Heroes

NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (BWF) and (NYCF) announced today that the Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform at this year's (SUFH) benefit, which supports injured veterans and their families. The band joins a line-up of comedians including Hasan Minhaj, John Mulaney, Trevor Noah, Conan O’Brien, John Oliver and Jon Stewart. The 11 annual celebration will take place Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

One of the most successful acts in rock history, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which is singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, have sold more than 60 million albums, including five multi-platinum LPs, and won six Grammy Awards, including “Best Rock Album” for Stadium Arcadium, “Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group” for “Dani California,” “Best Rock Song” for “Scar Tissue,” and “Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal” for “Give It Away.”  The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2012. The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ last studio album, The Getaway, was released by Warner Bros. Records on June 17, 2016.

Stand Up for Heroes is presented by the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival (NYCF), and is brought to you by Veterans on Wall Street, supported by founding sponsor GFI Group Inc., the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and the Craig Newmark Foundation. Since its inception in 2007, the event has raised over $40 million for veterans. This year, SUFH will be donating up to $500,000 from the event to support veteran organizations affected by recent disasters.
