KBRA Releases Third Quarter 2017 Bank Compendium

World News: . []

Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) released a Compendium analyzing the third quarter results of the U.S. public banking institutions with KBRA long-term ratings. This issue of KBRA’s Bank Compendium also includes a Spotlight on Deposit Pricing, which notes that, to date, upward deposit pricing changes or “betas” have been muted for the KBRA-rated universe of banks, though most industry participants anticipate meaningfully higher betas to emerge at some point. From a rating perspective, KBRA anticipates that deposit pricing and balance trends will likely demand much greater attention than they have in recent years.

Based on third quarter 2017 earnings reports, performance trends for the public institutions in KBRA’s rated universe of domestic banking institutions remained generally stable as compared to the second quarter of 2017. Ratings remained largely unchanged, as did the overall rating distribution since the Second Quarter 2017 Compendium was published on August 7, 2017. The following ratings actions and changes have been made since the last report:

  • Four institutions were assigned new ratings.
  • The ratings for one institution were upgraded.
  • The ratings for three institutions were withdrawn.
  • The Outlooks for three institutions were changed.
