NEW YORK, July 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of June 29, 2018, short interest in 2,348 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,435,196,979 shares compared with 7,442,061,087 shares in 2,334 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of June 15, 2018. The end-of-May short interest represents 3.65 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.21 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 894 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 1,153,082,488 shares at the end of the settlement date of June 29, 2018 compared with 1,086,453,666 shares in 881 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.80 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.96.

In summary, short interest in all 3,242 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,588,279,467 shares at the June 29, 2018 settlement date, compared with 3,215 issues and 8,528,514,753 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.51 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.00 days for the previous reporting period.
