Cape Town changing HID street lights with smart LED technology

The programme to replace high intensity discharge (HID) lamps with light-emitting diode (LED) technology is progressing well, the City of Cape Town said on Thursday. In a statement, the City said it has budgeted approximately R20-million in this new financial year to replace more HID lamps with LED lights.
