Ghana says to raise installed electric capacity to 5 000 MW in 2016

Ghana is confident it can raise installed electricity generation capacity to 5 000 MW by 2016 from 2 845 MW currently, Deputy Energy Minister John Jinapor told Reuters on Wednesday at an energy conference in Turkey. The West African country, like many emerging economies, struggles to produce enough power to satisfy growing demand from business and consumers. Ghana's fast-growing economy produces oil, cocoa and gold.
