SPORTTOTAL AG focusing on international expansion with

- Revenues in the first half year at EUR23.9 million, EBITDA at EUR-2.8 million

- The number of cameras to be raised by 50 percent to 450 in the second half year

- New infrastructure projects already provide a strong basis for revenues in 2019

Cologne, August 28, 2018. According to preliminary figures, SPORTTOTAL AG achieved revenues of EUR23.9 million in the first half of the year (H1 2017, continued operations: EUR26.7 million) and EBITDA of EUR-2.8 million (H1 2017 continued operations: EUR+0.2 million). As already announced, an infrastructure project anticipated was booked at a later date than originally expected. In the meantime, however, a preliminary agreement for a major race track project in Brazil (volume in the lower double-digit million range) as well as a contract for a racing track in St. Petersburg (volume in the mid-single-digit million range) have been signed. These projects essentially provide a sound basis for revenues in fiscal 2019. A significant part of the infrastructure project in St. Petersburg is expected to be recognized in revenues and profit in 2018. In line with its revised guidance for the full year, SPORTTOTAL continues to anticipate revenues in a range of between EUR42 and 56 million and EBIT of EUR-3 to -8.2 million.

VENUES: Sights set on more large infrastructure projects
CEO Peter Lauterbach: 'Although, by its nature, the market for infrastructure projects is difficult to predict, we are aiming to prevail against international competition and win two further projects in the next 12 months. We are nevertheless always aware when we formulate our goals in the infrastructure business that it is no easy feat to give precise predictions about volume and performance period. However, margins in the VENUES business are extremely attractive, and income from this business enables us to find part of our expansion financing for as our much more stable future business with more reliable planning.'

LIVE: on track
The LIVE business (with the Porsche Experience and the ADAC Zürich 24h race at the Nürburgring and SPORTTOTAL CONTENT MARKETING that specializes in social media video campaigning) is on track. As a result, SPORTTOTAL recorded more than 8 million views in video streaming at the ADAC Zurich 24h race at the Nürburgring, which is six times as much compared with 2017. In addition, broadcaster RTL NITRO achieved a daily market share of 3.3% and 3.8% in the relevant target group through a 24-hour live broadcasting at the racing weekend, which is the highest in the broadcaster's history. The race was covered on an international scale by 38 broadcasters in 152 countries.

DIGITAL:'s coverage is growing
The rollout in the DIGITAL business with is progressing: The company has already invested around EUR10 million in camera equipment, installation, software development and expert personnel. More than 300 cameras that show fully automated amateur football have meanwhile been installed. In the 2017/2018 season, fans can view around 4,000 meetings on The number of advertising-relevant views (e.g. excluding Facebook) averages 4,000 per game, which meets with our expectations. In gross terms, achieved more than 12,000 views per game. 'We intend to convert these views step by step to our own platform and thereby in the advertising-relevant area,' says Lauterbach. Even if the pace of growth is slower than originally anticipated, is aiming to raise the number of cameras by 50 percent through to the end of the year (another 150 cameras). Lauterbach: 'The additional coverage lays the foundation for successful monetarization: This is why we want to invest another approx. EUR20 million by 2020 and significantly reinforce our market position.' He adds that it would result in a strong community - with fans, players and sponsors. 'As promised, we are expanding into other kinds of sports such as hockey and volleyball. More types of sports are to follow. We are forging ahead with the process of internationalization. We will have made the first successful steps before the end of the current fiscal year,' as Lauterbach states. At the same time the Berlin-based Development Lab is working on developing the company's own platform, for instance with new value-added services and professional analysis tools that are destined to become part of the revenue model in the future. The company's own platform will facilitate's internationalization, and the development of new kinds of sports will deliver great scalability. Lauterbach: 'We will therefore clearly benefit from our investments in our platform.'
