Ohio Digital Learning School Ready to “Click On” the 2019-2020 School Year

World News: . []

The LINK  (ODLS), a tuition-free online public charter school, authorized by the Ohio Council of Community Schools (OCCS), is set to begin its inaugural school year on August 19. The school opened its virtual doors earlier this year.

Through its engaging web-based platform, live online learning sessions, and support from Ohio-licensed teachers and counselors, ODLS welcomes families with students in grades 9-12, aged 16-21, who reside in Ohio. The school will provide an education option that offers an individualized approach to learning for students of every ability level, including a competency in helping students who are struggling academically.

ODLS serves as a dropout prevention and recovery charter school (DPRS), helping students from traditional schools with diverse learning needs, providing an education option for students who are struggling academically, and offering several programs that address students’ individual academic challenges. Credit recovery courses are available for students who need to catch up in a subject, as well as highly targeted remediation sessions to build specific skills. There will also be a college and career-planning component.

“We are offering an interactive curriculum, with credit-recovery classes, support systems, and individualized learning programs to tailor education to each student individually,” said Kate Harkless, head of school for ODLS.

In addition to online classes, students at every grade level will be encouraged to connect with their peers through school-sponsored activities, including online recognition assemblies and clubs, community outings, and student leadership opportunities.

“I’ve taught in Ohio schools for 11 years, and I’m really excited to help Ohio students who need it the most,” said Erica Trapp, art teacher for ODLS. “For some of these students, we may be their last hope. We want them to succeed, to graduate, and we’ll do everything in our power to make that happen.”

ODLS is still accepting enrollments for the 2019-2020 school year. Parents are encouraged to attend one of the online information sessions hosted by the school each month. More information on ODLS and upcoming events can be found at LINK  or LINK  .
