NEW YORK, Sept. 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of August 30, 2019, short interest in 2,370 Nasdaq Global Marketsecurities totaled 8,308,462,471 shares compared with 8,255,813,521 shares in 2,378 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of August 15, 2019. The end-of-July short interest represents 4.66 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.08 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 1,000 securities on The Nasdaq Capital Markettotaled 929,503,354 shares at the end of the settlement date of August 30, 2019 compared with 944,167,057 shares in 990 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 3.18 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 3.33.

In summary, short interest in all 3,370 Nasdaq® securities totaled 9,237,965,825 shares at the August 30, 2019 settlement date, compared with 3,368 issues and 9,199,980,578 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.45 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 3.99 days for the previous reporting period.
